So I decided to stop by and say "hi".

wb, squid/EnigmaticTerror/Tick/<insert nick here> ;) (i only remember because you killed me so goddamn much)

there was some posted interest in weeks gone by about having a reinstall-UT99-and-frag-it-up day. i'm wondering if we should do that.

I'm getting old and don't have the reflexes like I used to. I'd be lucky to net a positive score nowadays :P

I guess UT3 didn't really take off?

I bought it. I think I played it a total of 3-4 days if you tally up all of the hours. It was OK. Felt like more "engine selling" to me. Showing off eye candy and physics without bothering on returning the playability back to UT99 levels.

I think UT3 is awesome but maybe I am just an UT diehard because I could play any in the series and be happy.

hi ET - I remember learning CTF by watching you play. Good times.

I tried UT2003, didn't like it so much, enjoyed Unreal XMP moreso, but it of course died when Atari pulled the plug (mainly avoided Atari games since)

Original UT and 2k4 did it for me. UT3 wasn't bad, but it was up against too much other good stuff. Part of the draw for the earlier hits was the community - and they were doin other stuff for UT3.

One small thing that made UT3 something I did not enjoy as much was the lack of Voice Chat.

I know, you can use Ventrillo and do it yourself, but after TF2 did such a great job with the voice I got spoiled. Typing in all the GGs and LOLs was just too much for my lazy ass.

think about it.
Back during UT99, i actually had keys binded with "I am here *code*" (the code said where in the map i was). Along with other binds like "got it" and I got your back. (not the voice...the actual text)

How the hell did we do it lol

I had specific bindings I'd load for specific maps. I had a hydro setup, a coret setup, if it was in our normal play list for ladder play I had bindings for it...of course we also used Roger Wilco (and then Battlecom) but not everyone could use it due to no microphones or other reason so key bindings were always required.

It's cool to stop by 10 years later and still see some familiar names :)

I wish I could drop by more often and play some TF2 or UT or something but that "life" thing is owning my face right now.

Ninjahedge
03-22-2010, 07:44 AM
Same here. It is hard enough getting random game times (an hour here or so), getting a regular time, oddly enough, is even harder....

shifty

Someone explain this concept of "life" to Ninjahedge for me. Every time I boot up my computer, the guy is like, stalking me and crap, waiting for me to sign onto steam so he can start bombarding me with messages! ;)

Ninjahedge
03-22-2010, 03:58 PM
I am just a lonely guy who likes to practice touch typing on unwary Steam users......

Not really. What's with the chops bustin' there Mr. Smiley? You who are willing to pay more for something so rare (KBS) should not be questioning the interest in your arse showing up on Steam... ;)

shifty

I am not willing! Re-read what I wrote! I only bust people's chops if I'd like to eat them!

...but that "life" thing is owning my face right now.

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.- John Lennon

But it takes little time to check in with the people you prefer to play with.

I still have mine, tons of maps and occasionally fire up UT, brings back alot of memories. I see alot of familar names on here, its been awhile hasnt it? Not to many of the {950} group around. Yoshi where are you now? Does Washighpingduck still have all his feathers? Oh well, maybe some day a server will fire up and we can have at it like ole times. Later, ELderLy/GeritolMan/StaceyMay, and StaceyMay is still lookin for that ole coot ELderLy!!!! I bet she is shacked up somewhere with that Yoshi fella, poor guy.

I've been playing BF-BC2 constantly. :p

Can't get enough of the destructible environments, kinda ruins other games though, someone goes behind a wall you shoot a rocket in the wall and it doesn't break, you're like well **** I've been playing too much Bad Company 2.

Nice to see all the old names. I miss playing with the decent people of the old times. Unlike the potty, complaining mouths out there now.

UT was an amazing life for me and I do miss it. And I say life because it was a huge part of my day. Now I have employees, budgets and clients to worry about till the late ours of the night.

I'm awake so much I should reinstall everything and give it a shot - I would be creamed quickly.

What's up everyone? I rarely play UT these days as I have hit my 40's and your eyesight and reflexes start to decline when you hit middle age.

My niece, TazGirl, who used to come with me to the LAN parties in NYC, is now 19 and is a sophomore at Keene State College in NH. Remember how she used to frag everyone when she was only 9 years old? : )

Take care!

It'd be pretty odd if a lot of people remembered me, I also found my game a few months ago when I was going through my stuff from before the army. Kind of weird seeing the faces from the old days. Good to see them though, see ten hasn't changed much

shifty

I don't think many of us have changed. Are you still enlisted?

I think folks will remember who you are. I do.

No Stacy May....She was a little too crazy for this guy! ;) I miss playing UT99 and then seeing Ederly with his Tonic of green goo being lobbed in the air like a women's softball pitch....Good times. :)

Its so nice to see all the old names come back. We need a UT session soon. One that doesn't have a bunch of 15 years swearing like a Scottish youth from Trainspotting.
