President just came into my office told me that because the development company was dead, they cant get any new tax credit deals, they are consolidating development and property management, the CFO (his wife) would be moving into this office with her development accounting team, they would be cutting a lot of jobs, mine included. Will give me a good reference make sure I got severance, buts just a matter of time.

Bummer.

At least they trust you enough to give you some fore-warning.

USE IT! Start looking NOW! (duh).

Did he give you any links/leads? Ask him if you can.

East coast is dead, but look all the way up and down it TS.

Do you have any real connections you can't live w/o up in Bahston? (Aside from the cold, I liked it up there when I was in school, so I can see why you would want to get back.....)

You could always apply down in Atlanta and give Shifty a hard time! ;)

I was a financial officer of the firm. You don't let someone like me leave disgruntled. Also I would imagine it would take me longer to find new work than an engineer would.

Eric, you're just a spineless poofter. I think you coulda got more if you would've pushed. I've been where I am for 11 years. If they give me anything less than 6 months severance, I'm suing, but really, I expect 9-12 ;)

tensux
07-09-2010, 02:13 PM
they acted surprised they got rid on me so cheaply, ps july through mid sept is onlly 2.5 months

tensux
07-09-2010, 02:26 PM
I worked my ass off the last month if that's what you mean

Ninjahedge
07-09-2010, 03:26 PM
I know I am a poofter, mainly because of the profession I chose.

But that is standard. Our bosses, in general, are shills that try to underbid the next guy and discredit where they can. The guy I am working for now seems OK, but he definitely underbudgets either time or cash (time would be worse for me, seeing how iam now salaried).

I know I am underpaid and underappreciated for what i can do, but, like I said, so is the profession in general.

Lesson: Change Professions and quit whining.

You've been talking about changing professions for a while now... what's up with that? Just do it!!! :D
