So the question is, what can I do?
The chick is in the bushes, but def not high enough NOT to be a cats snack.
Either its bad placement by the parents or it fell from a higher place and climbed up to about a 4 ft height. The parents are around because they are taunting my cat from the window! lol Like they re trying to scare her away from the chick.
The chick barely runs away from me, so I know i can catch it...but what do i do with it if I do? I cant exactly get to a higher place myself.

I would say it fell out of the nest or got pushed out too early. Do you know where the nest is? Can you reach it? I would catch the chick and put it back in if possible. Otherwise,.................let the cat out.:D

I've heard if you touch the chick, the parents will kill it. They don't like the smell of humans on their babies... :p

I did put a chic back once. And the parents abandoned it. I was told because of human smell on it.
Just keep the cat inside.

Ummm..... while I'll admit whether or not birds can smell has been debated for years, it seems that deciding that birds can and do smell was the decision! :p
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080427233813.htm
the study’s lead author, explained that: “Birds can detect the presence of a predator” thanks to their sense of smell.
The sharpness of the sense of smell among certain birds, especially those that raise their young in holes in trees, such as some of the tit species, is essential for determining whether their major predators, weasels or martens, have got into their nests or are approaching, particularly because of the limited visibility inside their nests.
There are other articles linked from this snopes page as well:

And... according to Mr. Billion there:
"I've been to chicken coops before and I can tell you for sure, birds can and do smell awful."

update.
seems like there are 2 chicks. Im guessing they def fell out of the nest due to the weather, but they are both hopping around and the parents are still feeding them. One just fell out of the bush after it grabbed some food lol
but yeah, it looks like these 2 will be cat food if they are stuck on the ground. Too young to fly unfortunately

Too funny Ash! I liked the voice bubbles! ;)
My cat is also named Cleo and we have a bird nest at our front door in the hanging plant on the porch. She will sit there quite a long time watching and licking her chops. Oh yeah the nest had five chicks that were hatched last week, they are not yet making chirping noises yet.

the little meow you hear from Cleo is her trying to mimick the birds....like shes gonna trick them into being friends lol

Yeah, I like the way the parent birds are all like "hey! Look over here!" Like the cat doesn't know the tasty snacks are in the bushes!!! :p
You taking bets DA? Even though cleo walked away, my bet's on her!! :D

i've seen this cat beat up dogs 5x her size.
you would lose the bet if you bet against Cleo "Wolverine"
Shes got freekin talons!
Anyway, the little birdies hopped on some bushes elsewhere and are hiding in them.
Probably wrong, but the human smell thing is not right, the baby was kicked out for other reasons.
It's not like you got to touch it before it was booted.
Ever see a Crow steal a baby Squirrel(spelling)-or anything like that-nasty!

i got a video of the chick itself. quality sucks, but im using my phone, so its better than nothing lol
Anyway, i just saw it semi-fly to a high spot. So I guess they are ok. But man, they make a lot of noise.

Sometimes the parents will kick the chicks out if they're defective in some way. Some sort of natural selection or something. But, these parents still seem to be feeding them and guarding them. Better to not touch them I would think. Glad they can almost fly. If the video is showing how high they can go, my money is still on the cat!!! :D

Aw I was going to get a screencap of my win but it resets the board.
Took me 3 tries before I figured out you have to just close off the outer dots so he can't escape and then slowly trap him.
