You know, I just realized that because I have so many songs on my phone that I never listen to new music/bands anymore... How sad! :(

I found this on facebook. Rusted Root, send me on my way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuV2agQPgps)from the movie Matilda maybe?

I kinda liked it. What's everyone else listening to lately?

NSFW, but the 2 I have been struck with lately is

Die Antword (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q77YBmtd2Rw) Zef Side. Yeah, wierd and rap, but I like their stuff.

...and to keep on the NSFW vein, Cee-Lo Green F*** You - very nice song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZyPld7tq_4&feature=related

..and the radio version is called Forget You

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKxodgpyGec

Saw a group of tweens performing the radio version at a street fest this past weekend and the catchiness transferred well.

I had a bunch.

The Doves
The Black Keys
Muse
Supergrass (been around a while... Just broke up I think)
Arcade Fire
Silversun Pickups (get their acoustic set!)

You may like Days of the New too.

There are a lot of alternative bands out now that got a lot of their influence from 70's rock and blues (which got their influence from 50's. 20's, etc etc).

It is both interesting and a bit dissapointing at times to hear something that sounds just like a Queen song or Police rhythm, but you come to realize that this is the way it has been for quite some time now. Some do it better than others!

What kind of music are you looking for Lil?

Do I need to set up an account to listen to this, or is the link broken?!?!?

I'm feeling very old and out of it music wise... I'm just listening for what people are listening to now, something new. Except not interested in the garbage the pop tarts are producing. I think I posted it here before. I spent one afternoon listening to Brit, Paris and the bunch of them. They all sounded exactly alike and the the lyrics were all the same. Other than them and those like them, I'm pretty interested in finding whatever's out there. :D

I checked it after posting, and it worked. I remember now (maybe falsely) that it was free for a week, I guess it got pulled. Here are some youtube links though:

Try listening to Pandora more often based off your current music to get introduced to new stuff.

Check out Mumford and Sons(since you liked Rusted Root), they get a lot of airplay at our house since it's currently my 3 yo son's favorite.

I've been listening to local and not-so-local live bands mostly:

http://www.thestickmartinshow.com/ - Alternative

http://www.adrianray.com - Country/Southern Rock

http://www.caravanofthieves.com/ - Gypsy Swing (try it you'll like it!)

http://www.slambovia.com/ - Classic Rock styled

All those pages have streaming players.

Radio Paradise is my source for new music.

I'm currently on a Gorillaz kick. If you like Mumford and Sons you should check out Frightened Rabbit.

I am always looking for something "new".

the problem becomes, they eitehr play pop new or solid old. It is very hard to find a good mix.

NYC has 3 stations that are worth listening to, but for some reason they all seem to get on the same kick at the same time.

There is only so much GNR and Tom Petty you can stand in a day.

(Ugh! GNR = Classic now? :P )

Are you speaking of general radio stations or http://www.radioparadise.com ?

Here are the last four songs played on Radio Paradise, which kinda gives you an idea of how varied they are:

Rosie and Me - Darkest Horse
Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabeté - Gomni
John Lee Hooker/ Miles Davis/ Taj Mahal - End
Beck - No Complaints

We have a radio station in my building and one of the dj's just came over to see if he could post an add on our bulletin board.... "sure! Let me see it before you post it." Well, I'll tell ya, if I wasn't feeling old music wise before... I sure am now!!!

Here's the ad:

Bringing you the best in underground music - Rock, classical, local bands, indie, hip hop, dubstep, you name it, we got it!

Yeah, okay... so I've at least heard of indie, even if I have no idea what it is but seriously... what the hell is dubstep?!?!?:confused:
His trying to explain it to me only made it worse. :p

Wikipedia: Dubstep (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep)
Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South East London. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals".

My son likes it, apparently. It does nothing for me.
