View Full Version : 2.5" HD's

What is the largest for these now and what is the time frame for the release of larger?

I have not been able to find anything over 1TB, and those go for $100+... But if that is so, how can I get a Passport ext drive 1TB for about the same price?

Does not make too much sense?

Reason being NewEgg had a promo code for an ext enclosure, $10 instant off and $10 mail-in on a 2.5" USB3 enclosure. I figured why not. Now I am looking for something to put in it! ;)

Most large external drives are actually 2 smaller drives in a RAID 0 configuration (yes with the accompanying reduction in overall reliability.) Also, the drives they use in these things are old and slow, seeing as how they are connected with USB or Firewire.

DD, yeah, I have seen some of the huge ones and have instantly dismissed them.

I have XP right now on all my machines and they can't do a drive assignment past 2TB, why bother gettting larger that is RAID-0 if it sees them as seperate drives anyway?

I guess I will just keep my eyes open for another 2.5 1TB
