Never played it. is it even worth trying with the level 20 cap? Are there other restrictions?

I would recommend trying it with a friend - leveling/questing is more fun in a small group than solo.

I am hesitant.

It is the kind of game I know I would like playing (after Fallout and Oblivion and the rest), but I am on the same line as BY... why bother if you are left in Middle School (LvL 20?).

Unless they are deliberately making some areas that are more challanging and fun for the capped free players, spending 100 hours farming at the lower exp levels to hit the ceiling seems useless....

I would not call WoW "free to play" - it is more a trial without a time limit. (before you could play it for free up until level 20, but there was a time limit of a week or two)

I'd say you are right in your concerns :)

This is worth the try. Just don't pay to level up more than 20 and you not gonna lose much of you life time since the pvp is not that good.
Start to level up to the human side and after reached around lvl 10 go to the Elfe side. This is the best parts of the game.

AION free trial only last up to lvl 10. You can't really tell much from such short test.

Well, I had WoW completely installed on a 14 day guest pass on 2006, but never got around to trying it. Just now made an account to try the free 20 level thing and the download is slow as snail **** through a screen door in January.
I'll play Fallout New Vegas Lonesome Road 'till the WoW is available.
...and if this steals my soul I'll hunt down everyone of you who didn't discourage me and steal your sweatsox.

Just remember if you start to pay to play WOW this gonna steal not only your soul but also everything in your life. Money, family, friends, job, standing and of course the sens of your life and its future.:D

I was tempted, but I do not like free capped RPG's... Very frustrating and pretty much like your first vial of crack.

I've played one character to level 20 and while it is fun, I don't get the soul/life stealing part of it. I know some of the features are off for the trial version, but I can't imagine adding them would make the game that much better.

They could always set something up like Guild Wars.....

The auction adds a lot because this is the trick to make money and get powerful items :D Mysterious rare cool stuff too. In f2p trial : mail and the auction are blocked. I think pvp is blocked too..? Possible?
When you learn how to make money this adds another dimension in the game because you learn how people are not aware or many things exactly as in real life. When you start making and selling something that makes you very rich on your server it is a nice satisfaction. :D
But well....the game is old and you don't have as many low level players than before. When you have the mail system you can send stuff to your own other characters on the same server, another really cool dimension.
