I don't remember the first two I watched but even on the ones I do remember, the visuals are so far above what I watched as a kid I am astounded!!

how do they get something lacking the detail to look like it always had that detail?

Yea, quite amazing. Look like freshly recorded HD. Just look at the trees and leaves. Really don't know how they do that.

Unless it was filmed using film like in movies. Then, all the detail should still be there. Just digitize them and you got the actual HD resolution.
