Wow... I mean just thinking back, the game lit up so quickly where we had 2 or 3 servers all with reserved slots because MYU'ers couldnt get into their own server to absolutely no one playing.

And this happened almost overnight.

just crazy if you think about it.

Too many new games, and als players like (geez, I forgot his callsign) got too caught up in it and had to stop playing alltogether for the sake of those that he cared for. Chu?

Anyway, what we found out is that, unlike UT, TF2 needs a TEAM to play. We tried getting enough together at the same time and it was hard. That and we got TROMPED in compeditive play, and FIZZZ there it went.

MMORPG's did not help thnigs, as well as some regular RPG's (F3, etc).

It is a shame that there really has not been another unifying game of choice these days, too many and not one that satisfies all.

I stopped playing when they started changing the game. So many things to earn (and learn) that changed the nature of the game.

As a casual player I didn't want to have to re-learn how to do everything ("I do WHAT with the samvich?") each time I got in-game, and when I gave it a try and jumped in a match I was at a severe disadvantage compared to all the people who WERE up to speed, so I just stopped.

L4D is much more predictable - see the zombie, shoot the zombie. No muss, no fuss.

Call of duty 4 :MW is just too good to play anything else.

And have you seen the footage to part 2? OMG

I'm a lot like Saboteur, and the older I get the more things I get involved in, which detract from gaming. I don't see how I will have hardly any time at all to play games when I first have kids.

You will, you just will get guilted about it. (first hand knowledge).

You will have a lot less time than you did before, but in most cases you will have your time limited once your woman moves in with you and finds out how much time you actually spend on the machine when she previously was not around!!!

Mine wants me to do stuff. NP there, except when you really do not have the means (home improvement w/no workspace) or you simply can't do it (clean the house when most items need her input...), but the hardest part is when they are right and you should do SOMETHING besides gaming in yuor free time.

So I am trying to learn guitar, I am reading more, and I started looking into possibly doing Voice Acting (you know how I try to do voics all the time, lets see if I can get some $$ for doing it!).

The only thing that keeps me coming back is when I see a MyU guy (like Cor and G$ last night) playing. Or if I see a bunch of [rec] or fc's all on at the same time and it is not a match. It is always fun to play with people who know what they are doing!

I got lucky.
We cant stand the TV shows the other likes. Shes in to all that reality crap along with dancing with the stores, American Idol....other stupid crap. I like dirty jobs, mythbusters, the dailyl show, family guy....etc etc. So when she watches her shows, she begs me to play games lol

Ah, she begs YOU to play!

The thing is, the games we liked to play aren't being offered anymore. If we could find another Diablo like game (Baldurs Gate, Champions of Norrath, Marvel Alliance) we could probably sit down and play a few hours of that.

But she is not really into Strat or FPS (FPS makes her nauseous, she never got used to it...). She watches the same shows you mention, Dancing with the stars, Tallent, etc and I am just not interested. We have some crossovers in shows like Supernatural and Heroes, but she just can't sit and watch a Mythbusters Marathon! ;)

(It is getting harder for me to watch too when they test things I know will fail.....)

I play Arena each day on many full servers so for me it is not dead. Arena is the new blow. Only problem is the lack of new maps.

TF2 was great. I think like someone else said, all the add-ons that you had to earn ruined the game. Sure it might be fun for the newbie gamer to earn weapon upgrades but it changes the dynamics of the game.

i don't understand why all games don't have a "classic" mode that just lets you go back to basics, no extra BS.

this would have been the one thing that would've kept me playing UT after UT99 was superceded by UT2003. if UT2003 would've just had some mode that was like ... classic UT99 physics, weapons, no dodge+jump or double-jump nonsense, i would've played the hell out of it. but the new physics, new movements and new weapons just made it crappy for me.
