dude, this is a completely different phone.

OS 5 came out like in october i think, but I just updated it on my work phone.
It made it a completely faster and much more sensitive phone.

I have had to slow myself down when I use it, but now it keeps up with me. They even included a send button on composing emails (finally)

now if they only got rid of the stupid press down screen and made the keyboard keys a tad larger, then we got something!

I've had such a stupid time trying to type. I find that when typing anything that has the letters A and L, I wind up deleting half the word and typing gibberish. The spacing on the keyboard is totally different, and they moved the location of some of the keys (CTRL, ALT, etc.)

Yes, it is better in 90% of ways, but the other 10% ways it degraded are REALLY friggin bad.

I've also noticed a lot of cases of screen corruption with the new OS and new apps. Make sure you download the latest apps along with the OS. If you don't, you may not know what the hell I'm talking about.

typing for me (i have big fingers) got easier.

In the old OS, I was constantly making mistakes and had to type slow. The touch was just weird. Now I am near iphone speeds with virtually no mistakes. (landscape mode)
I dont like that there is barely any view to see what you are writing. It's like you have even space to see 2 lines of text. I feel cramped.

Portrait mode is just impossible to type on and I refuse to use the reduced keyboard.

Yes, I keep hitting the wrong button to get a "?" because they put it in a different place. But I guess i need to get used to it.

Screen corruption happened on my theme. But after research, it seems every new OS tends to break themes and there is a work around temporarily until RIMM fixes it themselves. No biggy.

But man...the themes I have tested in the past MASSIVELY slowed down the device too. Now its like they dont even have an effect. It's like a brand new device. Very happy with it

i use the stock theme. i see lots of screen corruption and garbage when rotating.

the new text messaging interface is a g'damn joke, i can't use it and didn't figure out how to change back to the email-style messaging for SMS.

there are a few things fixed i really enjoy, but mostly....it's like someone took a turd and polished it some more.

hmm... didnt do any txt messaging.. but that's because i just use it for emails and calendar items.

My 2 main gripes that were fixed was the speed of the overall system (rotating from landscape to portrait included) and the screwed up sensitivity of the touch screen.

Both are fixed and I am now loving my new turd :)

I hate the Storm. I had a Curve, which I really liked, but the keypad died. So work gave me a temporary Storm until we get the Storm 2's in the office. I hate it. They gave it to me with the new OS already on it, so I can't compare what it was like with the original OS, but based on my experience with this new OS, I can only imagine the hate I'd have with the original! I'm with ya shifty on the whole A and L thing, happens to me all the time.

I've only had the thing for a little over a month, so maybe it's just taking me time to readjust to typing on a clickable screen (of which the concept seems good, but in practice fails). I have to slow down my typing on it vs the Curve because it just isn't fast enough. Also, the one thing I wished it would do is pop up the letter above where your finger is as opposed to just giving it that blue highlight so you could actually see the letter it thinks you are trying to press. The odd thing is that I discovered just the other day that it will pop up the letter, but not until you've had your finger on the letter for a second or two. I wish it would do it instantly! I've played with the sensitivity settings for the keyboard, but nothing has really helped.

Oh well, I'll just suffer quietly until the S2 gets to the office and hope it is better. I did play with a demo and remembering liking it, but I didn't get to play long. If it sucks too, then I'll go get a non-work phone and get the HTC Dragon when it comes out soon. I've played quite a bit with a friend of mine's Droid and I really like it, so I'm hoping the Dragon (or Passion or whatever the hell they are going to call it - edit, just saw it is called the Bravo) will be just as good, just a little better. Plus we have such draconian policies at work that our BB's are basically eunuchs and can't do anything other than phone calls and work emails. They've completely butchered the browser so we can pretty much only surf company sites and we cannot download anything. I'm baffled why we pay so much money for these smarty-pants phones and then castrate them.......

a couple of friends dumped the iPhone for the Droid and have gone totally crazy for it.
