This is with a 30ft piece of cable from cable jack to modem.

Just got the Comcast 50meg service today and was estatic to see the results.

Our GM said the reason the speeds are so high though is they haven't figured out how to turn the powerboost off. :D I hope they don't figure it out... lol.

Yep! We just released it on the 23rd. I'm gonna have to ask about the abuse policy if it still stands. Last I heard after 250gb's per month you get your speed zapped and put on a list. I could definitely see 250gb coming very quickly like this... lol.

how much does gaming factor into it?
I mean, thats a constant upload/download consumption happening.

You cheat though! I bet you got some kind of business line run in instead of a residential setup.

I forgot to mention. No Wes's allowed!!!

Edit: So I looked up FIOS website and their max residential is 50Mb so I know you on a "special" setup.... CHEATER! :D

From what I've been told, gaming doesnt take up as much bandwidth as you would think?

Maybe Wes can elaborate on this topic. :D

LOL. No, I didn't cheat. I'm still paying the same $50 a month plan. I haven't check their speed for the longest time, and have no idea the speed actually got faster.

EDIT: Just tested again. Seems like the download speed varies.

Correct. Gaming usually doesn't take more than 10-20K, the most 50K for a single client both ways. It's hosting the server that would use much more bandwidth since you have traffic coming from and going to each and everyone of the connect clients.

What's your account number? I'll change your bootfile for you. :D

Before this big upgrade I was only getting bursts of 16 and consistent downloads of only 9Mb. Upload was about the same.. maybe a hair less.

For some weird reason, whenever I have networked up, I can never get more than 2MB/s across the net, but when directly testing, I have gotten higher (I will have to test that).

Is there anything that would limit Sustained DL speeds?

I did Atlanta because most of you southern ppl did Atlanta also. This is fast enough for what I do.

(Brighthouse/Roadrunner are a bunch of morons. They JUST upgraded me for free from 7 MB download to 10 MB, THEN tried to sell me a 15 MB package for $15.00 a month more.)
