  • HDMI or 4K?

    Seriously.

What is worth it for the next 10 years?

I do not see 4K providing much more, but the res on computer ports is awesome...

    Just askin'....

What I can say on that is yes it is important since you need that capacity to double the picture on virtual reality projection. Starting 2016, 3D VR products gonna hit seriously our universe and to be able to get 1080p multiplied by 2 at least you need that resolution.

I think HDMI 2.0 is 4k anyway maybe you mean HD resolution?

Well, the price of 4K have came down to super affortable level. $1000 or even lower. I don't see why not get the 4K ones.

It also depends on how big the screen you want and how far you sit in front of your TV as well. There were some study regarding how fine the resolution one can detect relate to your distance to the TV.

In my case, to justify buying a 4K TV, I need about 65" and sitting within 6 feet to the TV. And I did just that last year for my basement small living room for PS3 gaming and occasional movies.

Well.. That one said $1400, but I get the point.

Our viewing distance is a bit further, maybe 8'. The 50" plasma at 1320x768 (or somewhere near there) is good, but I would like to get an even resolution multiplier so I can get rid of fuzzy lines and moire patterns (every so often, especially with things like pinstripe suits...).

I think I am looking at about 60"...

The TVs are on sale all the time, especially around the holidays. Thanksgiving usually have the biggest sales. Xmas usually only have sale on the low end models. If you are ready, watch out for sales on Thanksgiving.
