i can't understand why, unless you need to understand the general process of the wedding and traditions, like breaking the glass, etc.

the only physical difference would be the presence of a chuppah, which could present a problem for the photographer?

The closest I've come to going to a Jewish wedding was one that was half Jewish, half Catholic. Vows were officiated by a priest and a rabbi. The only other difference I remember was the breaking of the glass. The reception was exactly the same as any other wedding I've ever gone to.
